Most people who walk into their first weightlifting class say the same thing afterwards: "I had no idea I could do that." The snatch and the clean & jerk look technical. They look impressive. And yes, a little intimidating. But here's what nobody tells you — they're learnable. By anyone. From any starting point. No one gets handed a barbell on day one — not here. We start with a PVC pipe, build the movement properly, and only add weight when your body is ready for it. We've done this hundreds of times. You're in good hands.

CrossFit Teens

Most kids don't need another screen. They need something that makes them feel capable. CrossFit Teens at Martell is built for young people aged 11–17 who want to move, get stronger, and have a genuinely good time doing it. Every session mixes games, challenges, and real movement skills — coached properly, kept fun, and always age-appropriate. What they'll get beyond the fitness is confidence. The kind that comes from doing something hard and realising they can handle it. "My son used to hate exercise. Now he asks to come. That alone was worth it." Classes are small. Every teen is known by name. Technique is always taught first and safety is never an afterthought.No experience needed. Just a teen who's ready to try something different. How do I sign up for a Trial Week?

Hit the Trial Week button at the top of the page, fill in a few details, and book your first class. Seriously — that's the hardest part. Everything after that, we handle. The Trial Week is three real classes, real coaching, and zero pressure. Designed for people in Malta who haven't tried CrossFit before. Still reading? That's your sign. Book your Trial Week →

What kind of exercises can I expect during a class?

Nothing you can't handle — we promise. Every class has a strength section and a workout of the day. Movements are always taught before you do them, there's always the right version of it for you — not the easiest, but the right one — and your coach is with you the whole time. You won't be thrown in the deep end. Ever.

Is CrossFit safe?

Yes — especially here. Probably the safest place in Malta to start CrossFit as a beginner. We've coached people with bad knees, dodgy backs, old shoulder injuries, and years of doing nothing at all. Every movement is taught properly before you do it. We never push anyone past what their body is ready for. The person next to you might be lifting more — that's fine, they're on their own journey. You're on yours.

How often should I come for classes?

If you are a beginner, we recommend starting with 2 to 4 classes a week, with the goal of working up to 5 a week after your first few months. It may take a while for your body to get used to training at that intensity, so listen to your body and always discuss with us if you're unsure - we're here to take care of you.

Do I have to stop eating my favorite foods to be healthy?

No! A healthy lifestyle has to be manageable and realistic for the long term. Do enjoy special indulgences and meals! The healthier you are, the healthier you tend to want to eat. You get hooked on feeling good, and junk food just isn’t worth it. By avoiding excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates and measuring your intake of protein, carbohydrates, and fat, you will see dramatic, measurable increases in health.

Do I have to be fit to join?

No. And we mean that. We've had people walk through our door who hadn't exercised in years. People who were out of breath climbing stairs. People who genuinely believed they were "too far gone" to start. They're some of our best members now. You don't need to be fit to start here — that's literally what we're here for.

Are classes with coaches or will I train on my own?

Every class is fully coached from start to finish by CrossFit Level 2 coaches. You won't be handed a workout and left to figure it out alone — we know how that goes. We're with you every rep, making sure you always know what you're doing, why you're doing it, and that you're doing it safely. You will never feel lost here.

How long does it take to see results?

Faster than you think — especially if you're starting from zero. Most people notice something in the first two to three weeks. More energy. Less stiffness getting out of bed. Clothes fitting differently. The visible stuff follows. But here's what nobody tells you — you'll feel better long before you look different. And that feeling is what keeps people coming back.

What sets you apart from other gyms?

We’re serious about quality, results, and being honest with you, but we make sure you have a blast while working out. It’s all about getting better together, without sacrificing the fun! Plus, we’re an international community—probably the most diverse gym in Malta—speaking languages like English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Greek, and more!

I've heard CrossFit is intense — will I be able to keep up?

We hear this one a lot — usually from people sitting on the sofa convincing themselves it's not for them. Here's the truth: intensity is the last thing we talk about at Martell. We coach. Every movement is taught properly, every workout is scaled to where you are right now — not where someone else is, not where you were ten years ago. Right now. You will be challenged. You will also finish. And you'll probably surprise yourself.
